Babar

This is in memory of Babar.

Poor Babar had been shot twice, hit by a car and left for dead on the side of the road for 3 days. Poor Babar never heard the gun shots and the cars honking at him and no one bothered to help him. A State Trooper finally picked him up and was startled when he realized he was still alive. The Trooper took him to the local humane society to be euthanized. The Humane Society informed the Trooper they did not euthanize but authorized him to take Babar to their vet.

As the Trooper was pulling out of their driveway, the wife spotted Babar in the back of his cruiser. She immediately stopped him from leaving and called Dogsonly. She had recently learned about Anatolians and knew immediately he was not a St. Bernard as the Trooper had told them over the phone. Dogsonly was contacted and asked if they would take him into their rescue.

Babar required extensive surgery and rehab. During this time it was discovered that Babar was deaf. Babar came from Arkansas and his adoptive Mom had arranged his great adventure to California with the help of rescue people from Petsmart. Babar flew in to LAX on American Airlines after a road trip from Little Rock, Arkansas to Dallas, TX. He was always happy and loved to tease Molly. We learned to use hand signal so the big boy would know what we wanted. He was the best dog ever. Babar was always smiling even after all he had been through, he was always a happy, playful boy. Sadly we lost Babar to bone cancer.
