NASRN FUNDRAISING

helping us help our dogs

Heidi  is a 3 year old female brindle pinto Anatolian Shepherd Dog.  She was left in the overnight drop box at a county shelter in CA.

Whoever "owned" Heidi didn't do a very good job of caring for her.  They cared so little for her that they couldn't even be bothered to walk her into the shelter, they had to do it in the dark of night so no one would see them.

Heidi has suffered miserably with chronic ear infections that have went untreated.  Not for days or weeks.  Not even for months.  We're talking years...... she's suffered for years with her ears hurting her, every single day, every single minute.  Now her ears are beyond repair.  She is already deaf and she is in constant pain.
The only remedy is a bilateral ear ablation.

What this means is everything will be removed from inside her ears.  She will remain deaf but she will be rid of the constant pain that she's had to deal with for so long.

We knew Heidi had this problem when we pulled her from the shelter.  We knew it would be expensive to give her the treatment that she needed.  We think Heidi is worth it.  She's a young dog and she has many good years left ahead of her.  She is a very sweet, kind and loving dog.  We think she deserves a chance at a happy life with no pain.

The cost of Heidi's surgery, including her spay is going to be $4270.  Her ears are so bad that we cannot wait.  Her surgery is set for 2/17/09.

We are hoping to raise as much money as possible to help pay for Heidi's surgery.  NASRN is a 501(c)(3) organization and donations to our group are tax deductible.

You can make a donation via PayPal at our website www.NASRN.com   If you would like to mail a check, Please make checks payable to "NASRN" and send it to:

We hope that this will be the beginning of a new life and happier times for Heidi.     :-)

As of Feb 17, 2009, we are up to $2,019.84 towards Heidi's surgery!

That's with only 16 people donating. Now if we could have the other 284 members of our NASRN Yahoo groups donate just $10

we would have Heidi's surgery paid in full. Were almost to the half way point!!
Please keep those funds coming no amount is to small every donation is greatly appreciated.

UPDATE: 2/18/09

Heidi is resting comfortably and doing well right now but she still has more surgery.

One ear was done late yesterday.  The vet said, once they opened her ear up, it was "horrific".  Due to the extraordinary amount of puss, they opted to not spay her at this time.  During the course of surgery, a blood vessel that runs along her face was accidentally cut and bled quite a bit.  This is why they finished the first ear and then stopped the surgery.  Heidi will have her other ear done sometime tomorrow but we are not sure of the time yet.

Considering all she's been through, Heidi is doing remarkably well.  She is in good spirits and is resting comfortably.

As of Feb 18, 2009,we are up to $2,536!!

Thank you to all how have donated!. We still need more to hit our goal amount of $4,270.

Any donation amount: $1,$5,$10,$100 is greatly appreciated and needed.

Please ask Friends, Family, Co-workers, anyone you think would donate just a Dollar for Heidi.

Thu Feb 19, 2009 5:56 pm (PST): UPDATE ON NASRN RESCUE DOG, HEIDI, who underwent bilateral ear ablation surgery this week:

Heidi has made it through both of her surgeries and is resting comfortably.  She had a horrific infection in both ears, much worse than we had initially thought.  We will be waiting for results on tissue biopsy.  With any luck, she will be going back to her foster home tomorrow to finish her recovery and wait for that special "forever" home.

Even though Heidi is deaf, she will be free of pain and hopefully will feel much better than she has in the past.

Thank you to all of you that have been worried about her and thank you to those of you who have donated to help pay for her surgery.
We have raised a little more than 50% of the cost so far.

Thanks again

As of Feb 19, 2009, we are up to $2,796 towards our goal of $4,270 for Heidi's surgery.
Remember: "No donation is too small".  We need about 148 people to donate $10 dollars to be able to pay off Heidi's vet bill!

Thank you all so much for raising as much as we have in such a short time!

Hi Everyone
Well, Heidi finally left the hospital yesterday and went back to her foster home. She's doing well in her recovery so far.
The bad news is the bill came out to $4800+change.

I feel really bad about spending this much on one dog but our only other option was putting her down. She's young and sweet, it would
have been a shame to have her die over this.

A huge thank you to all of you that have donated to help us pay her bills. You are a very special group of people and without your help,
we would not have been able to save Heidi and many other dogs in the past.  I know it sounds corny and cliche but we would never be able to help
as many dogs as we do if it were not for the people in this group.

Thank you all so much
