Jack
March 2001 - August 2006

Jack came to live with us in March 2001, after Carleen told us someone had spotted a possible Anatolian Shepherd at the Knoxville, Tennessee shelter.  Jim drove out to get him, and it seems they bonded right there at the shelter.  When I got home from work that day, I loved him at first sight.  He was very skinny and had been beaten, but he soon flourished.  He loved people and he was an awesome companion to us, as well as an excellent guardian for our rescued chickens.  He was very gentle toward our two elderly black labs.  We could not imagine life without him.  He won big points with the neighbors when he treed a (harmless) black bear, who later came down out of the tree and went off in the opposite direction.

Jack passed away unexpectedly during the night of August 23, 2006.  We miss him more than I can describe.
