Meet Lucy!  Lucy came to us in July as a bonded pair with her best bud Rocky - also still available - after they were surrendered to the shelter by an elderly couple who had to move into an apartment and couldn’t keep them anymore. Both were scheduled to be euthanized but NASRN was able to pull them at the last second. Knowing how hard it is to adopt two dogs at once, we and the boarding facility have worked hard on teaching each of them to function independently, with good success. Both have made their own human and doggie friends and are ready for separate homes (but still could go together).

Lucy is a gentle and kind dog who is good with other dogs - however, she like many Anatolians is not truly aware of her size so she does better with those more of her own size. She is about two years old, crate trained, and incredibly sweet with people... and would LOVE to be in a loving, stable home again. As Lucy has no livestock experience, she is looking for a companion home. 

Unfortunately, Lucy did test positive for heartworms. But she is in the very early stages and we have started her on slow kill treatment.

Lucy hasn't let this kill her spirit at all! She is not symptomatic and prognosis is excellent for full recovery with no lasting effects. Lucy is an active, playful, loving and healthy girl with many years left ahead of her.

TRANSPORT OPTIONS: Transport options may be available within an approximate radius of 1,000 miles, depending on where you live.

If you live in the NE region, there is a rescue transporter available for various drop off locations.  Click here for more info 

We currently do not have transport options from TX to the NW/PNW.  Adopting parties living in these areas would be responsible for arranging for their own transport.
