DALLAS, TEXAS:

Meet Dodger!
Once upon a time (right now) there was a dog named Dodger (not his original name, we renamed him....new name, new life).  His owner (a thoughtless individual) didn't want him anymore (after 3 years!?) so he just decided to let Dodger roam and wander, loose, to get into trouble or somehow be killed.
A neighbor (another thoughtless individual) decided that he needed to shoot Dodger.  Bear in mind, Dodger already has a bullet slug floating in one of his front legs.  The leg that also had all of the bones in the foot broken at some point in Dodger's life.
Anyway,a good friend and rescue angel alerted NASRN to the situation (death by firing squad, administered by the neighbor).  Within 24 hours, said Rescue Angel ferried Dodger to safety (out of the gun's range) and NASRN picked him up a few days later.  Whew!!
Dodger is now resting comfortably in foster care with one of NASRN's rescue angels and he is looking for a loving home!
He is about 3 years old, estimated DOB September 2018.  He is neutered and fully vetted.  Dodger did test positive for heartworms but he is asymptomatic and is being treated with monthly medication (provided by NASRN).
He is super skinny right now (82 lbs; early Sept/2021)  but has a good appetite and is putting on weight.  Dodger will be a big boy when he fills out and will weigh around 120 pounds when he is fully mature.
As mentioned above, he sustained a broken foot sometime ago that healed on its own.  It doesn't bother him much, he runs and plays just fine, but he will need to stay on glucosamine supplements and anti inflammatory pain meds to keep him more comfortable.

Dodger is housebroken!  He is super friendly with people and he gets along well with other dogs.  He loves to romp and wrestle with his foster brother, Beans, but he also enjoys a good long nap afterwards. He has a deep bark and will be sure to let you know if he feels anything is amiss outside!

***Secure fencing is required on all adoptions***

Dodger has had a pretty rough life thus far but he is such a gem!  He holds no grudges and carries no emotional or behavioral baggage from his past experiences.
